How Brave Heart Consulting Works

Change can be hard, and even harder if you aren't crystal clear where you are in the change process and sure of what the next steps are that you're really ready to take. When everyone, including you, is already trying as hard as they can, hearing again what to do differently doesn't help. You all know what needs to be done but nobody, yourself included, is sure of exactly how to do it.

Do you know the phases of ‘readiness to change’ that may be keeping you or your team unable to solve current problems?

To cope with constant change and get skills to be more effective, you need three things:

1. You have to know what you, and others, are ready to change.
Using the six phases of readiness to change gets at the root of what allows change to happen more successfully and effortlessly. It's still hard work, but you know where you are and what needs to be done. This is especially important when employees need new skills, especially the 'soft' skills, in order to be completely effective in their jobs. Having an assessment of what they (or you) are ready to change can get them on their way to making the changes that you both would like them to make.

2. Learning how you learn. In the world of constant change, leaders have to find a new way to do something they have never done before. To solve new problems requires a willingness to say “I don’t know how to solve this problem at this moment, but I know how to figure it out.” Sometimes it’s uncomfortable to admit that you ‘don’t know’. Learning how you learn best is the key to being able to solve the new problem. Not all managers learn from going to workshops or reading books. Many need to experience something before they can learn it. Do you know how you learn best and what you need to learn now as a manager?

3. Choosing the right action steps. Sometimes you see the big picture for your goals but what’s hard is identifying the smaller steps that will get you moving toward the big goal. Identifying action steps that you, and others, are committed to taking and the accountability for the steps done gets you and the team moving toward the goal. Before you know it, you’re making progress on something you were just talking about, but not accomplishing.

While you may have experienced all three, what you may not have is a way to consistently integrate them.

Constant change is fundamental to businesses and organizations. When you and your team can trust that you have the tools to flow through changes consciously, everybody benefits.
